Harmonized System (HS) Codes for Pulp, Paper, Paper Products, and Waste Paper

Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding Systems (HS)

The Harmonized System is an international nomenclature for the classification of products. It allows participating countries to classify traded goods on a common basis for customs purposes. At the international level, the Harmonized System (HS) for classifying goods is a six-digit code system.

The Harmonized System, introduced in 1988, is developed and maintained by the World Customs Organization (WCO), an independent intergovernmental organization based in Brussels, Belgium, with over 200 member countries. It has undergone several changes in the classification of products. These changes were introduced in 1996, 2002, 2007, 2012 and 2017.

The HS codes provided below help exporters and importer of pulp, paper, paperboard, paper products and/or waste paper to know product classification code named differently in each country.

For example, if you need to export or import pulp, paper, paperboard, paper products and/or waste paper to/from any country, the customs department and other government and non-government agencies identify your product on the basis of Harmonized System or HS codes.
